Adobe’s new upgrade policy

I’m not sure how certain this will come to fruition, but it may be the case that Adobe’s tightening up their policy on upgrades to their Creative Suite products. Apparently, if you don’t have their latest, CS5 or CS5.5 versions of CS, you may be stuck paying the full price for the next version when it comes out.

From the information I’ve gathered, it appears to me that this new upgrade policy for the next version of Adobe Photoshop and the Creative Suite (presumably called CS6) will leave a significant number of your customers with no affordable upgrade path to Photoshop CS6 or the Creative Suite. (via

Personally I think this blows. For reasons that I think Scott Kelby explains better than I could. But overall the strategies that Adobe has been using these past few years doesn’t leave a good taste in my mouth. It’s like a good company gone bad…
